It seems Vin Diesel’s family values only extend so far, as Dave Grohl recently revealed that the action movie star refused to be part of Studio 666 – an upcoming horror movie starring featured rock musician Dave Grohl with the rest of his band, the Foo Fighters.
In an interview with Empire magazine, Grohl explained how he and the band were approached by a film company while working on Medicine at Midnight, their latest album. “They said, ‘We’d love to do a horror movie with Foo Fighters,’ which I thought was the most ridiculous fucking idea I’d ever heard,” he explained.
However, despite his initial reservations, Grohl told the outlet that he was later inspired by the macabre Los Angeles mansion he and the band were working in at the time. “[A]s I sat alone in this house, day after day, I started to think: “We have the house, we could do something here. So I found that premise ridiculous for a horror movie,” he said.
The premise of the dark comedy movie, titled Studio 666, is pretty self-explanatory. the official synopsis reads: “Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Foo Fighters move into an Encino mansion steeped in rock’s macabre history to record their highly anticipated 10th album. Once inside the house, Dave Grohl finds himself struggling with supernatural forces that threaten both the album’s completion and the band’s life.
Alongside the entire band, who will be playing themselves, the film includes a series of celebrity cameos as well as horror movie royalty: Scream star Jenny Ortega. “The casting process was literally me looking into my phone,” Grohl added. Unfortunately, not everyone said yes to Grohl. “Damn, we asked Vin Diesel to be in the movie! he exclaimed “We were like, ‘Oh my god, ten million people are going to see this movie! And he said no. I guess Vin Diesel got the better of him.
Fortunately, you don’t have to wait long for the release of Studio 666 – it arrives in UK cinemas on February 25, 2022.
