Hunnam has the title role in this retelling of the story of King Arthur. He plays the iconic king in a story that touches all the familiar notes, like the Excalibur saga. From Warner Bros. ‘ summary from the film: “When Arthur’s child father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, takes the crown.
“Stolen of his birthright and with no idea who he really is, Arthur arrives roughly in the back streets of the city.” But once he pulls the sword out of the stone, his life is turned upside down and he’s forced to acknowledge his true legacy… whether he likes it or not.
Reactions from critics and the public
From Rotten Tomatoes, the film currently has a pretty horrendous 31% review score from critics, based on 275 reviews. These include this lament of Ars Technica: “Even the fight scenes are dull, shrouded in dust and janky with slow motion. Honestly, the sword-wielding situation was so bad that I found myself obsessed with the few little things that hadn’t been stained by CGI. By the way, the title of this article is even more biting, complaining that the movie “is bad in a way I didn’t think movies could be bad.”
However, audiences seem to have a much better opinion of the film. of king arthur Rotten Tomatoes’ audience score is 69%, based on 25,000 reviews.
Of course, this October addition to Netflix’s content library was far from the most anticipated of the month. Other big releases this month on Netflix – which aren’t years old – include Army of thieves, as well as new seasons of Lock & Key and You. The latter quickly took the # 1 spot on Netflix’s Squid game from its inception.
