Action movie openings are a crucial part of the movie. The first impression sets the stage for the rest of the film. Starting the film with a well-executed action sequence helps the creators achieve this goal. The genre, plot and important characters help to pique the audience’s interest and keep it going until the story unfolds.
1. Avengers: Infinity War
This action movie begins with an urgent signal from The Statesman. Next was Thanos and his children going through a massacre of their own making. And then, in the next frame, Thanos kills Loki and Heimdall, then defeats Thor and Hulk in a stunning and brutal fight sequence. And now Thanos is no longer a joke!
2. Origins of the X-Men: Wolverine
After a short scene, the film switches to an exciting credit sequence. Wolverine and his brother Viktor fight many wars for America. The scene takes us through the Civil War, followed by WWI and WWII, then Vietnam.
3. Baby driver
The film opens with a bank robbery in progress. But the focus is on the getaway car and its driver, Baby, who is waiting for his crew. The crew returns and Baby chases them, leading to a widely acclaimed car chase sequence. It establishes and enhances the tone of the film immediately.
4. No time to die
Bond is in Matera with his girlfriend, Madeleine Swann, on vacation. But when Bond visits Vesper Lynd’s grave, a Specter bomb goes off and all hell breaks loose. The rest of the scene is a chase between the assassins and Bond – a solid opening for a strong film.
5. The Fellowship of the Ring
The opening scene is a legendary battle on the slopes of Mount Doom, with thousands of soldiers on both sides. The scale of the scene would be appropriate for the climax of any movie. But for Lord of the Rings, this is just the beginning.
6. The Dark Knight
Instead of focusing on its main character, the action film opens with a bank robbery orchestrated by the protagonist. Thieves are dressed as clowns. The scene introduces and establishes the Joker as a dangerous and cunning villain and Batman’s most formidable enemy.
7. Raiders of the Lost Ark
This action movie uses pure action to set the score for the rest of the movie. Indiana steals a golden idol. He outruns guards, solves puzzles, and bypasses traps all at once! It is also the introduction of Belloq, the villain.
8. Blade
The opening scene is a rave scene. Vampires first shower human ravers with blood, then attack them. The film’s main character, Daywalker, appears in it wielding a shotgun. The scene that follows is well choreographed, emotional and still a bit funny, setting the mood of the film perfectly.
9. Deadpool
Deadpool’s opening scenes are creative and entertaining, but also brutal combat and gun wars. Deadpool attacks a motorcade and is followed by a violent, funny and daring fight scene. Fans love the first sequence for its action quality and relevance to the movie itself.
10. Saving Private Ryan
It is one of the most beloved and watched war movies. The film begins with the first landings on Omaha Beach, where terrified soldiers charge headlong into gunfire. The scene depicts the terror, the horror of war and the horrific reality the soldiers face.
