Ahead of the film’s premiere at Sundance 2022, Indiewire reports that Searchlight has picked up the horror movie Costs, with the intention of releasing the film exclusively through Hulu.
Costs comes to Hulu on March 4, 2022. From the director Mimi’s Cave, Costs plays for the first time as part of the Midnight section of the Sundance Film Festival, which premieres January 20.
The film delves into “the horrors of modern dating seen through a young woman’s defiant battle to survive her new boyfriend’s unusual appetites.”
Frustrated with scrolling through dating apps to find herself on lame and tedious dates, Noa tries her luck by giving the awkwardly charming Steve her number after an encounter with the produce section at the grocery store. On a subsequent date at a local bar, the sassy banter gives way to a chemistry-laden affair, and an amorous Noa dares to hope she may have found a genuine connection with the dashing cosmetic surgeon. She accepts Steve’s invitation to an impromptu weekend getaway, only to find that her new lover has been hiding unusual appetites.
