Rowan Blanchard, Auli’i Cravalho in queer teen love movie on Hulu

Rowan Blanchard and Auli’i Cravalho have been cast to star in Hulu’s upcoming queer teen romance flick. The untitled film will be directed by Sammi cohen and will be produced by comedy legends Natasha Lyonne and Maya rudolphe.

The two actresses will play high school girls who fall in love after meeting on the track team. Blanchard has been chosen to play Paige, an aspiring artist who is forced to join the track team. The team is run by her longtime crush, but she suddenly falls in love with one of her teammates. Cravalho has been cast as AJ, a track star who struggles to step out of the shadow of his twin sister.

Blanchard is a booming actor, who has had turns on The Goldbergs and Ava Du Vernay‘s A wrinkle in time. She is probably best known for her role as Riley Matthews in the Disney spin-off. Girl meets the world. The spin-off follows Boy meets the world characters Cory and Topanga, as they move to New York City with their daughter Riley.

Blanchard can also be seen on TNT Snowdrops as Alexandra Cavill, daughter of Jennifer connellyit’s Mélanie. While she had a recurring role in Season 1, she was promoted to Series Regular in Season 2 and will appear in the next two seasons (as she has just been renewed for a fourth season).

Cravalho is best known for her lead role in Disney’s Moana, in which she performed the hit song “How Far I’ll Go” at the 2017 Academy Awards. Showing her vocal talents, Cravalho played another Disney Princess in ABC’s live-action production of The little Mermaid. She can be seen next in Amazon’s new series The power. From the book of the same name by Naomi Alderman, he follows a group of teenage girls who develop a special power to shock people. Cravalho is also keen to star in the film adaptation of Spring awakening, a role that Lea Michele was born on Broadway in 2007. The hit musical is a coming-of-age story set in 19th century Germany and follows a group of teenagers who are new to their sexuality and must come to terms with the strict rules of their village.

Hulu’s teenage romance flick still has no title and has yet to start filming. We will keep you posted on the next news.
