The 20-year-old will star in Disney’s live-action adaptation.
At the moment, Rachel Zegler is talking about him. The actor absolutely KILLED it as Maria in the new West Side Story!
And I’m even more excited for her next role as Snow White!
The film – which will also star Gal Gadot as Evil Queen – is the next of Disney’s live-action adaptations and will be directed by Marc Webb.
Well, in a recent interview with BuzzFeed, Rachel opened up about what she hopes to bring to the role of Snow White. “I can’t say much about it other than that Snow White was constantly criticized,” the 20-year-old said.
“Even though she is the original Disney Princess and we love her so much, [she’s been] criticized for existing only for a prince, existing only to be rescued.”
“And I think our director, Marc Webb, and everyone working on this movie really took his narrative and turned it into something much stronger.”
“And I’m very, very excited to be able to bring this to life,” she concluded.
While most people were rightly thrilled to see the actor cast as Snow White, some social media trolls criticized the casting of a Latinx woman. Rachel quickly shut that down in a now-deleted tweet.
In a statement, director Marc Webb said: “Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts. Her strength, intelligence and optimism will be integral to rediscovering the joy of this classic fairy tale. from Disney.”
