The first Critics Choice Super Awards took place tonight. The awards show was created to honor the most popular and fan-obsessed genres on TV and film including Superheroes / Comics, Sci-Fi / Fantasy, Horror , action and animation.
Receiving nominations in the categories Best Sci-Fi / Fantasy Film, Best Actor in a Sci-Fi / Fantasy Film, Best Actress in a Sci-Fi / Fantasy Film and Best Villain in a Motion Picture, Palm springs managed to win an award in all categories except one in which he was nominated. The film won the award for Best Sci-Fi / Fantasy Film, while lead actors Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti won Best Actor and Actress in a Sci-Fi / Fantasy Film, respectively (JK Simmons was sadly outnumbered by Jim Carrey for Best Villain in a Movie).
Palm springs follows characters Nyles (Andy Samberg) and Sarah (Cristin Milioti) who have a chance encounter at the Palm Springs wedding of Sarah Tala’s sister (Camila Mendes) and her fiance Abe (Tyler Hoechlin) and then find themselves stranded in an infinite time loop. As Sarah comes to terms with being stuck, she begins to adopt Nyles’ carefree nihilistic demeanor as the two fall in love with each other while trying to make the most of the never-ending November 9 and get together. reconcile with their new reality.
