Horror movie

Paget Brewster, Madeline Zima, and more join LGBTQ + horror film “Hypochondriac”

We’re probably not talking about Tubi enough here on Bloody Disgusting, a * 100% FREE * streaming service that frankly has a better selection than most paid services. Yes, there are commercial / commercial breaks that will interrupt your movie every 15 minutes or so, but it’s a small price to pay to have so many movies on hand for, well, no price at all!

On the holiday horror front, there’s no shortage of movies to stream on Tubi, including Silent night, deadly night and its four sequels, as well as festive films like Jack frost, Rare exports, Black christmas (2006), and The Scary Little Munsters Christmas (a fun little favorite of mine!). And then you have the * truly independent * Christmas movies, of which there are plenty.

‘Krampus: The Judgment’

In particular, Tubi took care of some Krampus-themed horror films, which all came after Michael Dougherty. Krampus in 2015. The success of that film opened the door for horror films centered around the holiday beast of Alpine folklore, and so far almost all of them have been of the * no-budget * caliber. But hey, they can still be fun!

Streaming now on Tubi, you will find…

  • Krampus: The Christmas Devil (2014)
  • Krampus: The Judgment (2015)
  • Krampus Unleashed (2016)
  • Krampus 2: The Devil’s Return (2016)
  • Mother Krampus (2017)
  • Origins of Krampus (2018)
  • Mother Krampus 2: Slay Ride (2018)
  • Vikings vs. Krampus (2020)

I have gone through the list this month, having so far watched Krampus: The Judgment, Mother Krampus, and Mother Krampus 2. The account (above) is the one with a fully computer-generated Krampus, but otherwise that’s one of the best uses of Krampus mythology at that particular independent level. As for Mother Krampus, well, this one is actually about the unrelated holiday witch known as Frau Perchta, the movie turning the Christmas witch into some sort of Freddy Krueger character seeking revenge. Mother Krampus 2, however, is a sequel that only has name, having nothing to do with the previous film. And the killer is not a Krampus woman or even a witch, but rather a woman wearing a Michael Myers mask.

I am not making this up. This is the wonderful world of horror without a budget that we are talking about. And while none of these films are traditionally * good *, they do have their own charms …

So if you are looking for more of Krampus then look no further than Tubi. And to help you decide which ones to watch and which to skip, you can check out the trailers for seven of the movies below!
