The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Mattel Films masters of the universe The live-action film has now found a new home at Netflix. Production is set to begin this summer with the Nee brothers (The lost city) ready to take the helm of a screenplay they wrote with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings writer David Callaham.
Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch and DeVon Franklin are among the producers, while Robbie Brenner and Kevin McKeon have been tapped to oversee the film on Mattel’s behalf.
As for Musclor, West Side Story actor Kyle Allen is set to play the iconic hero. Noah Centineo was attached for a while, but ended up leaving the project when the latest iteration fell apart. Other credits include american horror story and The path; However, masters of the universe looks set to get his big Hollywood break and a star performance here could put him on the map in a big way.
In terms of plot details, we don’t have any, but common sense says He-Man will face Skeletor! Netflix’s investment in this franchise comes as no surprise, especially since the streaming service already hosts Kevin Smith’s. Masters of the Universe: Revelation and the CG animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (which is coming back soon for its second season).
