For those who have been waiting for updates on Jordan Peele’s latest horror movie for a long time, Nope, we have good news for you. Today a teaser was released for the director’s upcoming film and we have it here for you to check out. Starring in the new feature, a strong roster of talent includes Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Barbie Ferreira, Brandon Perea and Michael Wincott.
In the teaser, which is less of a preview of Nope and more than a reminder of some of the fantastic content Jordan Peele has brought us so far, viewers watch a montage of Peele’s past films, get out and Weride while the Luniz song “I have 5” plays in the background. Fans of the director’s film, We, will remember the melody as a focal point throughout the thriller. At the end of the teaser, fans finally get a glimpse of a few short seconds of the next one, Nope. We see the characters of Kaluuya, Palmer, and Yeun staring into the distance with terrified expressions on their faces all screaming “no!” ours. With the script for Peele’s new film shrouded in mystery, we can only speculate on this first look. While Palmer and Kaluuya’s characters don’t give us much to work with as they stand in near complete darkness, Yeun’s character gives us a bit more. Wearing a cowboy hat and dressed in a red blazer with a white button-down shirt and bolo tie, Yeun appears to be in a rodeo ring as he watches what looms in the distance. Although it’s out of focus, it appears that behind the character’s right shoulder, an audience member rises from his seat to point at everything Yeun fears in the sky.
Jordan Peele has absolutely crushed it since his groundbreaking Comedy Central sketch series, Key and Peelein which he starred and wrote alongside his former mad tv peer, Keegan-Michael Key. Following the extreme success of their series, the duo teamed up again to create their first feature film, Keanu. From there, things really took off for the actor-turned-director.
In 2017, Jordan Peele released his first horror film, get out. A hit with viewers and critics alike, Peele won his first Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for the film. Before his next horror film, WePeele was involved in the creation of the TBS series, The last OG in addition to co-producing the film, The BlacKkKlansman. In 2019 Peele released We, which was another immediate hit for the director. Following the success of get outfans flocked to theaters to see the new film which, again, did well with critics.
As his followers waited for Jordan Peele’s next creation, the writer and director gave viewers a fresh take on the classic television series, The twilight zone, in which he developed as well as narrated. He also produced the notable series, Lovecraft Countryand co-produced and co-wrote the horror movie sequel, candy man, through his Monkeypaw Productions. In the same way Nope, fans have a new movie starring Peele to look forward to. Netflix will release a stop-motion feature that will use the voice talents of Peele and Key to tell the story of two demon brothers titled, Wendell and savage. The film was created and developed by Henry Selick, known for his long list of iconic stop-motion films, including The Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the giant peachand Coraline.
Although we don’t know much more about Nope as we did yesterday, the new clip is certainly appreciated. It casts the same shadow of weirdness that Jordan Peele’s other two films are known for. Hopefully even more information and first glimpses will be revealed in the coming days.
