legendary filmmaker John woo returns to Hollywood for his first film in the United States in almost 20 years. The director of popular action films like hard boiled and Face / Off, Woo has been working on features in Hong Kong for the past few years. It has now been revealed that he will be directing a new American action film titled Silent night with Joel Kinnaman (The suicide squad) should play the lead role.
Woo takes an interesting angle with Silent night, as it would be a “boisterous action tale” completely devoid of dialogue, but likely filled with gunshots, broken glass, and other action movie racketeering. This of course means that Woo will have to rely on its unique brand of visual storytelling to keep viewers hooked on what’s going on from start to finish. Joel Kinnaman will also be tasked with using only his movements and facial features to convey what needs to be said, but not aloud, in every scene.
Full plot details haven’t been revealed, but as a film without dialogue, the story of Silent night is said to be “basic”. By deadline, Joel kinnaman plays the role of a “normal father” who goes to the underworld to avenge the death of his young son.
