A new Haunted house the movie is in the works at Disney, the popular attraction returns to theaters on March 10, 2023and EW reports this Jared Leto joined the cast.
According to the site, Leto plays the “Hatbox Ghost”.
The site also confirms that Jamie Lee Curtis play Madame Leota!
Justin Simien (Dear Whites, Bad Hair) directs the new live-action adaptation of the popular Disney theme park attraction that is home to 999 Lairs.
The known ensemble distribution for the Haunted house movie at this time includes LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Rosario Dawsonand Danny DeVito.
“In this mysterious adventure, a doctor (Dawson) and his 9-year-old son (Chase Dillon), looking to start a new life, move into a strangely affordable mansion in New Orleans, only to find the place is so much more than they bargained for. Desperate for help, they contact a priest (Wilson), who in turn seeks help from a widowed scientist-turned-failed paranormal expert (Stanfield), a French Quarter psychic (Haddish ) and a grumpy historian (DeVito).
The Dark Ride attraction, which debuted in 1969 and is still going strong today at Disney parks, “sees theme park visitors enter a spooky, spooky mansion that has a wide array of supernatural frights. It also showcases the value of a character graveyard.The most popular characters are Hatbox Ghost, Madame Leota, The Phantom, and Hitchhiking Ghosts.
Rob Minkoff directed the feature The haunted mansion in 2003, the first big screen adaptation of the ride. Eddie Murphy starred in the film. More recently, Guillermo del Toro was attached to adapt the ride for an all-new film. Alas, he never came to life.
Katie Dippold (ghost hunters 2016) is writing the screenplay for the new movie for Disney.
